Placement

25 hours per week in exchange for one meal per day and beach front accommodation in a beautiful shared house (private bedroom). A minimum commitment of two months is required. Immediate start. Discounts on surfboard hire, surf lessons, hotels and fitness activities.

Our Visión and Focus

Misión Surf is a social impact hotel and surf school, created to generate self-sustainable income for Mision Mexico Foundation and provide community outreach support to the youth and families of Puerto Madero. We are a small, 6-bedroom, beachfront property located 30 minutes outside of Tapachula, Chiapas.

Role Context

We are looking for individuals with experience in teaching swimming and surfing, who can bring excitement and energy to our youth community classes and public surf lessons. You would be (1) working with children & youth from our home & local community (2) delivering surf classes to the general public and hotel guests (3) helping to promote our surf school.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Deliver free weekly swim and water safety lessons as part of our community outreach programs

  • Assist in developing and enhancing surf skills amongst our Mision Mexico Casa youth

  • Assist with water safety and supervision on our family beach days

  • Deliver surf lessons to paying members of the public and hotel guests

  • Assist in promoting our surf school locally, engaging with new and existing surf clients

  • Assist with gathering social media photos and content

  • Assist with hotel hospitality duties, including guest check-ins

Essential Criteria
  • Proven experience in teaching swim and surf classes at varying ages and ability levels

  • Certified water attendants (lifesaving and lifeguarding)

  • Excellent interpersonal skills

  • Conversational in Spanish, with the ability to hold classes and workshops solely in Spanish

  • Self-motivated and able to take responsibility for actions and duties

  • Valid ‘Working with Children Check’ / Criminal Records Check prior to placement.

  • 21 years or older

  • No drug users

Desirable Criteria

Full driving license, with willingness to drive in Mexico if required
