Our Visión and Focus
Misión Surf is a social impact hotel and surf school, created to generate self-sustainable income for Mision Mexico Foundation and provide community outreach support to the youth and families of Puerto Madero. We are a small, 6-bedroom, beachfront property located 30 minutes outside of Tapachula, Chiapas.
Role Context
We are looking for experienced surfers and swim instructors who can bring exciting energy to our surf school and community swim classes, assisting us in enhancing and expanding our programs. You will work closely with the general public, hotel guest and our local community. The main focus of the role is (1) manage our surf school, delivering and promoting surf lessons locally (2) work with children and youth from our home and local community to help develop surf and water skills.
Duties and Responsibilities
Manage and deliver all surf lessons and surf related enquires from paying customers, including the general public, and international/national hotel guest
Promote our surf school locally, engaging with new and existing surf clients
Assist the team in organising and delivering surf retreats and surf hospitality packages
Deliver free weekly swim and water safety lessons as part of our community outreach programs
Assist in encouraging, developing and enhancing surf skills and participation amongst our Mision Mexico Casa youth
Run surf and ocean awareness workshops, refreshing and educating our youth and community on water safety, basic first aid, and clean ocean/beach practices
Assist with gathering social media photos and content
Essential Criteria
Essential Criteria
Proven experience in teaching surf lessons at varying ability levels (evidence to be cited)
Certified water attendants (lifesaving and lifeguarding)
First aid trained
Excellent interpersonal skills
Conversational in Spanish and English, with the ability to hold classes and workshops in both languages
Self-motivated and able to take responsibility for actions and duties
Valid ‘Working with Children Check’ and undergo a Criminal Records Check prior to employment.
21 years or older
No drug uses
Desirable Criteria
Full driving license, with willingness to drive in Mexico if required
