Placement

25 hours per week in exchange for one meal per day and beach front accommodation in a beautiful shared house (shared bedroom). A minimum commitment of two months is required. Immediate start. Discounts on surfboard hire, surf lessons, hotels and fitness activities.

Our Visión and Focus

Misión Surf is a social impact hotel and surf school, created to generate self-sustainable income for Mision Mexico Foundation and provide community outreach support to the youth and families of Puerto Madero. We are a small, 6-bedroom, beachfront property located 30 minutes outside of Tapachula, Chiapas.

Role Context

We are looking for individuals or a couple with hospitality experience to assist with guest engagement, cleaning, and taking photos for social media purposes.

Duties and Responsibilities

Mision Surf Hotel:

Expected:

  • Welcome and register guests on arrival.

  • Clean rooms, hallways and restrooms, replenishing supplies.

  • Clean all public areas, ensuring trash is not visible and safety is prioritised.

  • Respond at all times in a friendly, helpful manner to guests and other colleagues.

  • Take up any tasks assigned by management as and when needed.

  • Ensure the kitchen is kept clean and hygienic at all times.

When Required:

  • Assist with mealtimes, food prep and cooking.

  • Keep bathrooms clean.

  • Responds to guest requests and inquiries while in public areas.

  • Assists with other responsibilities and duties in the absence of other team members or other tasks assigned by management.

Maintenance & Laundry:

Expected:

  • Responsible for collecting and delivering linen and laundry.

  • Check all items for damage or stains and take appropriate action to rectify these issues.

  • Remove used bed linen and make up beds with clean linen.

  • Assist in the loading and unloading of dryers and sort out washed laundry items.

When Possible:

  • Assist with general maintenance and upkeep of the rooms, public spaces and hotel.

Administration:

Expected:

  • Suggest suitable travel options and local outings to guests.

  • Perform check ins with guests including copying of passports and inputting information into our shared excel booking form.

When Possible:

  • Assisting with admin work and promotion of Mision Surf.

Essential Criteria
  • Proven experience working in a hospitality setting, with customer service experience

  • Excellent interpersonal skills and attention to detail

  • Fluent in either English or Spanish, conversational in both languages is a bonus

  • Self-motivated and able to take responsibility for actions and duties

  • Valid ‘Working with Children Check’ / Criminal Records Check prior to placement.

  • 21 years or older

  • No drug use

Desirable Criteria

Full driving licence, with willingness to drive in Mexico if required
